The beginning of every year is a very important time for mobile phone manufacturers and not just because of the New Year’s resolutions they have made. There is also the small matter of the technology shows and congresses held every year at which the greatest and good of the mobile world are expected to announce their upcoming plans.
One of the biggest of these shows is the Mobile phone World Congress and it was held this year at the end of February through to the beginning of March. Some massive announcements were made, including the launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play but what else did we learn at MEC 2011?

Tablets aplenty
Last year, for many people, was very much the year of the iPad. Apple’s tablet was extremely well received and is pretty much changing the way we look at computers so it was only a matter of time before everyone else got in on the act as well. MWC 2011 saw tablet announcements from Samsung, LG, RIM, HTC, Motorola and several others so there will be far more competition for Apple this year.

Consumerism the new buzzwor
It seems that people are desperate to not have to carry two phones around, one for work and one for home, so all of the big mobile phone companies are responding to this. The launch of the Blackberry Torch last year showed us that a phone could perform both of these functions well and new phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Pro look to be following in its footsteps.

Wholesale Applications Community
This has come as a reaction to the dominance of Google and Apple in the application market with several other operators launching this alliance, known as the Wholesale Applications Community, so they can pool their resources together and attempt to make inroads in a very lucrative market.

eryone knows about HTC by now and if you know about HTC then you definitely should in theory know of the HTC Desire along with the more recent HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z. HTC surely have one heck of a phone family going on here with the HTC Wildfire getting involved as a part of the Desire family not to mention the first Desire handset as well as the two brand new ones which takes the family up to four members now.

So going strong at four the question to get asked is, does the Desire family have a definitive leader? A lot of people say of course, the original Desire handset is definitely the leader and many people say that one of the newer devices, either the Desire HD or perhaps the Desire Z would be the head of the group. Well the only way to answer that is well, it truly is simple really it’s the Desire HD which is the leader, strictly simply because it is the greatest thing that HTC have to rival the iPhone 4 from Apple and it is doing a pretty good job at that at the moment.

This is not a slight on the various other devices mind, but it is the truth, well it really is as far as we are concerned. The Desire Z is following up as an extremely close 2nd and then there is the very first Desire and then unfortunately, the ‘budget’ handset from HTC is bringing up the rear of the pack. If you want one of the HTC Desire HD phones then you are sure to find some really good HTC Desire HD deals around somewhere!

In another attempt to lure more business from the mainstream smart phone market, RIM have developed another handset that includes all of the personality of a Blackberry, but seemingly without any of the usual bells and whistles. This is still though, one of the most advanced mobile phones on the market
The first, and probably most defining, feature of a Blackberry to go missing is the QWERTY keyboard. For some a relief, possibly not for others, but then again this is meant to be a phone that is a reaction to Blackberry’s low popularity with the mainstream market.
The 2.25” screen is great for media viewing and with a hard disk space of up 32GB external memory any consumer would find it hard to this phone anything other than a high-end smart phone.
Not all of the usual features that Blackberry provide are missing. The optical trackpad is still present, allowing for easy navigation around the infamous Blackberry operating system.
There has evidently been lots of attention paid to the connectivity capability of this phone, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity all to a high standard. This connectivity potential combined with access to Facebook, Twitter and Blackberry Messaging make this phone a social networker’s dream.
The Pearl also takes great advantage of the most recent developments in Blackberry Apps that have become as useful and entertaining as any of the other market leaders. Its connectivity capabilities are another bonus in this department.

Whilst this phone is evidently a must have tool for the social media enthusiast it is not that factor that sets it apart from any other Blackberry. The loss of the QWERTY keyboard makes this Blackberry a whole different animal. Any user can clearly see the business roots of this phone but is simply impossible to see it as just that when there’s not a full keyboard placed in your hand. Head over to phones4u to see there brilliant offers on the new blackberry pearl

The iPhone is a high-end multimedia-enabled smartphone, designed by Apple Inc, the makers of such products as the iPod. Unlike other smartphones, such as the Blackberry, the manufacturer of the iPhone is behind marketing, design, and specification too. The very first phone to be released was in 2007, and after months of rumour and speculation on blogs and websites, Apple finally announced the product on January 9th 2007.

The ‘original’ iPhone was then introduced to the United States market on June 29th of the same year, and shipping and marketing in Europe began soon after. The very first version of the iPhone featured quad-band GSM with EDGE technology and Time Magazine named it the, ‘Invention of the Year’ in 2007, much to the delight of the manufacturer. However, Apple’s developers set straight to work, and soon had another, updated and improved model, shipping worldwide. On July 11th 2008, the iPhone 3G was released to world-wide audiences. The phone supported faster 3G data speeds via UMTS with 3.6 Mpbs HSDPA and assisted GPS, and soon after, Apple released version 3.0 of the iPhone OS operating system to compliment the new model. The iPhone 3GS, which was released in the US, Canada, and six European Countries on June 19th 2009, and in Australia and Japan on June 26th, was even faster than its predecessor. The original iPhone then became discontinued with the introduction of the iPhone 3G, which remains available alongside the iPhone 3GS. On June 7, 2010 the iPhone 4 was introduced and shipping is due to begin on Thursday June 24, 2010. Pre-orders for the all new model will begin on Tuesday June 15, 2010. Features that are set to be included are FaceTime video conferencing that will use Wi-Fi only to perform. The iPhone 4 will also feature Apple’s A4 microprocessor, a 5 megapixel camera, a front facing camera for FaceTime video conferencing, and will be running Apple’s OS 4 mobile operating system, which will be released on June 21, 2010; three days before iPhone 4’s initial release. A GM seed of iOS 4 was released to developers, alongside an SDK for the operating system, on Monday June 7, 2010, the day of WWDC 2010.Find the best cheap mobile phones at dialaphone, click for more info

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., 04/06/2009 The Hyundai Veracruz and Hyundai Santa Fe were named 2009 “Best Bets” in the SUV and Crossover category by Cars.com, the leading destination for online car shoppers.

“Both the Hyundai Veracruz and Santa Fe are exactly what value car buyers are looking for,” said Mike Hanley, an editor at Cars.com. “They offer stylish features, quiet cabins, leading safety features and are backed by the best warranty in the industry. These are vehicles our editors would love to drive.”

To qualify as a Cars.com “Best Bet,” models must meet three quantified criteria: a “Good” rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests; average or higher reliability ratings; and average or higher gas mileage within their class.

“It’s an honor to have Cars.com editors recognize the Veracruz and Santa Fe on their list of vehicles to buy in 2009,” said Scott Margason, director, Product & Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Both of these models offer industry-leading safety technologies, top-tier quality and a host of luxury and convenience features that offer more value to today’s car shopper than our competitors.”
